Picking up new skills is always in vogue.  So is a new boat.  So we built a cedar strip canoe.  The husband and I worked from February 2010 to Labor day when we took her on the maiden voyage.  The Quiet Traveler is 16' long, about 65 lbs and is registered with the Ohio Department of Watercraft.  In 2011 I built a sail for her.  She is just too pretty.

And next?  How about a skin-on-frame kayak?

My Crafts

The pastel container started as a cardboard tube that I proceeded to cover with cotton thread, beads and a lining. 

There are other tubes that I have covered using a variety of mediums including fabrics, nylon cord, etc.
